Three Roofers Paused While the National Anthem Was Playing At Nearby Football Game

A photograph of three Maine roof workers who stopped while the national anthem was playing at a high school nearby their job site has emerged and went viral.
The photo was taken on Saturday, Oct. 14, showing three workers standing with their hands over the hearts as the national anthem started to play at Waterville High School during a football game.
“They had no idea, anyone, even noticed but our community did,” Shanon Gurski Dixon told WMTW. “Several people had taken pictures of this patriotic act of kindness.”
“Our little city would love to have them recognized,” Dixon said before the picture become popular.
She is hoping that a personality like Ellen DeGeneres will see the photo and will honor them for their patriotism.
David Charns shared the photo on Facebook along with the following text: “These three men were doing roof work next to Waterville High School this Saturday when they heard the national anthem and paused.”
Dixon said

“They had no idea, anyone, even noticed but our community did. Several people had taken pictures of this patriotic act of kindness. We started sharing it on FB and Twitter to find out who these men were so we could thank them. We have all 3 names and the name of the company they work for. It turns out they were doing independent work that day, but they are roofers by trade and all work together for a company out of Oakland Maine. Our little city would love to have them recognized!”
